Privacy Policy
Readology is a free writing tool. We collect as little as possible. Here is exactly what happens to your data.
The short version
- Formatting happens in your browser. The text you paste is not sent to our servers.
- If you sign in, we store your email, name and profile picture from Google, plus any drafts you choose to sync.
- If you use AI headers, the paragraphs you send are processed by Anthropic to suggest headings.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, no analytics, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time from the account menu.
What stays on your device
Your current draft, your settings and drafts saved while signed out are kept in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device and you can clear them by clearing your browser data.
What we store when you sign in
- Account details from Google sign-in: email address, name and profile picture.
- Drafts you save while signed in, so they appear on your other devices.
- A daily count of AI header requests, used only to apply the free limit of 10 per day.
- This data is stored by Supabase, our database provider, in the European Union (Ireland).
Services that process data for us
- Supabase: sign-in and database (EU, Ireland).
- Google: “Sign in with Google”, and the fonts used on the site.
- Anthropic: generates AI header suggestions from the paragraphs you send, only when you click AI headers. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models by default.
- Stripe: processes optional tips. We never see your card details.
- Vercel: hosts the website and keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Cookies
We use no advertising or analytics cookies. Signing in stores a session token in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in.
How long we keep data
Account data and synced drafts are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Daily AI usage counts are only needed for the day they apply to.
Your rights
- You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Delete your account from the account menu (“Delete my account”), or email us and we will help within 30 days.
- If you are in the European Union or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Readology is not intended for children under 16.
Changes
If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the date above it.
